once upon a wall

With a grant through the Community Arts Network of WA (CANWA), the Vic Park Collective ran the Once Upon A Wall art project in 2015, bringing accomplished WA artists to our doorstep to teach locals about the history, techniques and skills involved in street art.

The workshops allowed residents an opportunity to engage with the artists and transform blank walls around Victoria Park into beautiful public murals.

Artworks were created on a range of different media, including laneways, carparks, buildings, shopfronts, toilet blocks and even community ping pong tables using paste-ups, stencils, zentangle, illustration and spray.

Among the artists to share their know-how and expertise were Frank, Dolus, Nick Zafir, Cheeks, Kiara Thomas and Han Solo

In addition, the Vic Park Collective and Town of Victoria Park partnered with FORM to bring PUBLIC festival to our neighbourhood. This involved a range of local and international artists painting murals at several locations around Vic Park.
