Walk Ride Stride Success

The Vic Park Collective's first ever Walk, Ride, Stride car free day on Kent Street was a huge success. Thanks to everyone that came along. We had a blast and it seemed like we weren't the only ones. You can check out all the images from the day on the Car Free Days page.

Thanks to the Farmers Markets for moving across the park to join in, and the Town of Victoria Park for shutting the road. Lucky the rain just held out until the afternoon.

Roller hockey, jungle body workouts, face painting, swing dancing, yoga, tai chi, bike engraving by the Kensington cops, giant kids games like jenga, Vic Park pop up library, the arts centre, bouncy castles, petting zoo, Japanese kimonos, lawn bowls, ping pong, the ukulele orchestra and chalking up the asphalt. Everything else and everyone we're sorry we forgot to mention!

See all the life that can happen when people reclaim just one street from cars for just for one morning.

Walk, ride, stride. Then sit, sip, chill.

The Collective will now be catching our breath and taking stock. We have a few other things on the go, then we might start considering whether to invite Car-less Carlos to town again!

If you haven’t already, please fill out our survey about the event. Would you like to see a car free day again? Any ideas for improvement? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
