Megan is looking for an inexpensive paper alternative to the approximate 300 plastic containers she uses per day to provide customers with take-away lunch and snacks.
Meanwhile, she’s more than happy for customers to bring their own container before 11am, when all boxes need to be ready for the lunch rush.
Sushi Time adopts a “rapid production” system to prepare fresh lunch boxes and minimize the need for storage. Rolls, salads and other items get prepared in the morning, packaged for immediate sale and sold by the end of the day, with nothing retained for sale the following day.

“People need to be educated about plastic”, believes Megan. She says her staff has been instructed to only give plastic bags away to accommodate sushi boxes if the customer asks for it.
Megan is also passionate about selecting the best and most ethical ingredients, and has switched to free range chicken on all her sushi range. “It’s not the perfect solution, but it’s a step in treating the animals in the right way”.
Sushi Time is preparing to open a second location in Maddington soon.
